Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you visit bagiq.app, use the BagIQ disc golf bag tool at app.bagiq.app, or sign up to receive emails from us. We are based in the UK and process personal data in line with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and other relevant privacy laws.

1. The BagIQ app (app.bagiq.app)

The BagIQ bag tool stores your bag data locally in your browser using localStorage. No account is required to use the app.

To enable cross-device access, the app automatically saves a cloud copy of your bag under a randomly generated 6-character bag code. The code is not linked to a BagIQ account, name, or email address. It acts like a private link: anyone who has it can load that bag, so you should keep it private unless you intend to share the bag.

The bag data saved to our servers includes your disc selections, shot labels, and a computed analysis (gaps, overlaps, coverage). Bag names and disc nicknames are free-text fields you control. We recommend avoiding personal information in these fields, as they are included in the saved bag data.

We use this data in aggregate to understand how the product is used; for example, which disc gaps are most common and which discs are most frequently carried. We do not use it to identify or profile individual users. Our legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest in improving the product.

We use PostHog EU to understand how the app is used. It is configured with no cookies, no persistent analytics identifier, no personal profiles, and IP address discarding. Its temporary identifier is held only in page memory and resets when the page is reloaded or closed. Session replay, console recording, automatic interaction capture, and automatic pageview capture are disabled.

We send selected product actions and limited context such as the feature used, bag size, coverage, gaps, and broad throw-type mix. An event may include the individual disc involved in that action, but we do not attach the complete bag contents to every event. Bag sync codes and private bag-code URL parameters are removed from analytics. Our legal basis under the UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving BagIQ.

You can object to PostHog analytics at any time by opening Tweaks in the app and turning off Privacy-friendly analytics. When switched off, BagIQ does not initialise PostHog or send product analytics events from that browser.

2. Email sign-up (bagiq.app)

When you sign up through the email form on bagiq.app, we collect your email address and the date and time of sign-up. We use this to send occasional updates about BagIQ, including new features, useful disc golf content, and anything else worth knowing. No filler.

We use Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) to manage our email list and send emails. Your email address is stored with Brevo. Brevo may transfer data outside the UK or EEA. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards apply, including Standard Contractual Clauses.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. We may keep a suppression record after you unsubscribe to make sure we do not contact you again by mistake.

The legal basis for processing your email address is your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

3. Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on bagiq.app for aggregate statistics and website performance. Cloudflare states that this service is cookieless, does not track individuals across websites, and does not collect or use visitors' personal data. We do not use it for advertising or behavioural profiles.

4. Cookies

The BagIQ marketing site does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary technologies to provide security and network services.

The app uses localStorage to save your bags, tutorial state, and analytics preference on your device. localStorage is a browser storage technology rather than a traditional cookie, but similar privacy rules can apply to it. The app reads your saved bag data and separately sends the cloud-sync copy described above. PostHog does not use cookies or persistent browser storage for its analytics identifier.

5. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to object to processing; and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

6. Data retention

Email subscription data is retained while you remain subscribed. After unsubscribing, we may keep a suppression record so that we do not contact you again by mistake.

PostHog product analytics events are currently retained for up to one year under our PostHog plan. Session replay is disabled. Historical recordings collected before 29 September 2026 may remain for up to 30 days before they expire.

Account-free bag snapshots saved to our servers are currently retained indefinitely for product analytics and cross-device access. Resetting a bag clears the local copy but does not automatically delete its cloud copy. To request deletion of a cloud bag, email [email protected] with its 6-character bag code, shown in the Share or Profile sections of the app.

7. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Brevo: email list management and delivery
• PostHog (EU): cookieless, memory-only product analytics with no personal profiles or session replay
• Cloudflare: hosting, network security, cloud bag storage, and cookieless website analytics
• Cloudflare Pages: website and app hosting

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The latest version will always be at bagiq.app/privacy with the updated date shown above.
